Customer: Lam-Wood Systems
Construction Spotlight Award Winner: BlueCollar Cloud
Founded in 1977, Lam-Wood Systems is a Denver-based supplier of heavy timber and engineered wood products such as I-joists and trusses that are used in commercial and multifamily residential construction. But an outdated Sage 300 CRE (Construction and Real Estate) platform had been holding the company back.
Lam-Wood’s team used time-consuming manual workarounds and spreadsheets to manage processes such as revenue recognition, inventory cost tracking, and job costing. Building work in progress (WIP) reports took the company three full days each month, and leaders had limited visibility across their operations. Aiming to fast-track its growth, Lam-Wood turned to BlueCollar Cloud (opens in new tab), a NetSuite partner with expertise in construction accounting and project management.
NetSuite and BlueCollar’s proprietary NetSuite-based tools have been a huge help to the company. Lam-Wood now has robust job cost accounting, automated revenue recognition, and transparency into project financials and inventory costs. Monthly WIP reports are now updated in real time and available on demand, eliminating the need for manual revenue recognition journal entries. As Lam-Wood continues to grow, NetSuite will be there to help it scale up quickly.
“Our upgrade to NetSuite with BlueCollar has truly improved our processes, sped things up, and reduced human error," Controller James Johnson said.
Customer: InGenius Prep
Education Spotlight Award Winner: Folio3
InGenius Prep provides higher education admissions counseling and test preparation services to help prospective students earn acceptance to their dream colleges, medical schools, or law schools. The Connecticut-based firm, which opened its doors in 2013, boasts a team of 150 former admissions officers from top US schools and a high success rate with its students’ applications.
The college counseling firm used QuickBooks for accounting and HubSpot CRM, and the two systems were not integrated. That took a toll on efficiency and limited visibility across the company. Creating consolidated financial reports and managing intercompany transactions between global subsidiaries was difficult and time-consuming, while revenue recognition and order-to-cash processes were cumbersome with standalone accounting and CRM systems.
InGenius Prep rolled out NetSuite with its implementation partner Folio3 (opens in new tab). With the Folio3 HubSpot NetSuite Connector, InGenius Prep’s customer and deal data is sent from HubSpot to NetSuite, while item data is sent from NetSuite to HubSpot—all in real time.
InGenius Prep has seven subsidiaries across the US, Canada, China, and South Korea, and NetSuite has helped them automate intercompany and elimination transactions between these subsidiaries. In addition, the company has automated much of the revenue recognition process and can easily run global consolidations to lessen the burden on its finance team.
Customer: Alden Group Renewable Energy
Energy/Solar Spotlight Award Winner: Zenardy
Alden Group Renewable Energy (AGRE) provides sustainable solutions for edible oil wastes with a focus on waste-to-energy opportunities and a circular economy. AGRE captures and transforms fats, oils, and greases produced in commercial food preparation into feedstock used to create biodiesel and aviation fuels. Founded in 2022, AGRE helps customers meet sustainability goals by keeping biowastes out of landfills.
As a rapidly growing startup, Alden couldn’t afford waste in its financial and operational processes. Disparate systems for financials, CRM, and asset management hurt efficiency, visibility, and collaboration. Eyeing a swift upgrade to a cloud platform, Alden selected NetSuite ERP and Zenardy (opens in new tab) as its implementation partner.
AGRE needed just 100 days to go live on NetSuite. The Texas-based business has automated processes across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and fixed asset management to eliminate manual data entry thanks to integrations with and optimizations provided by Zenardy. That includes integrations between NetSuite and Stampli, its AP Automation tool, and Expensify. The company has also gained vital insights through reports and KPIs in NetSuite that help set the company up for future growth.
“NetSuite is very user-friendly and has great reporting and KPIs, and the customer service from Zenardy has been top-notch,” AGRE President Richard Thayer said. “It’s literally shaved days off our month-end close process, which gives me timely visibility into operational and financial trends.”
Customer: Meridian Credit Union
Financial Services Spotlight Award Winner: Deloitte Canada
Meridian Credit Union is Ontario’s largest credit union and the second-largest in Canada, with more than 380,000 members, $32 billion CAD in assets under management, 87 branches, and 15 business banking centers. Meridian needed to bring the same degree of convenience and ease of use that it offers its members to its own financial management processes.
Looking to streamline its financial data reconciliations and improve approval workflows for purchases, bills, expenses, and journal entries, Meridian turned to Deloitte Canada and NetSuite to support a large-scale overhaul of its financial systems.
Meridian has automated processes such as self-assessed taxes and amortization of prepaid expenses and created multilevel, audit-compliant approval workflows for accounts payable, expenses, and journal entries thanks in part to customizations developed with Deloitte. The Credit Union has increased efficiency and visibility in areas such as budgeting and IFRS-compliant financial reporting. Ultimately, these gains pay off with improved employee experiences.
Customer: Enchant Christmas
Gaming and Entertainment Spotlight Award Winner: Consule Solutions
Enchant Christmas runs the world’s largest Christmas light mazes across the US, entertaining more than 1.3 million visitors since 2016 with dazzling winter wonderlands and special events. The company, however, was disenchanted with the standalone systems on which it ran its complex and fast-growing operations.
Enchant faced extensive manual work with QuickBooks when it came to recording financial transactions, managing sales from ticketing and ecommerce systems, purchasing goods, and handling inventory and intercompany transactions across subsidiaries. This complexity only worsened as Enchant grew, so the company turned to NetSuite and Consule Solutions (opens in new tab).
In partnership with NetSuite and Consule Solutions, Enchant has unified its tech stack. The new system automates intercompany transactions, reducing manual entry and enhancing accuracy across subsidiaries. Additionally, integrations with Shopify for ecommerce and Ticketure for ticketing mean sales are seamlessly recorded in NetSuite in real time. Defined processes for purchasing and sales have further improved overall operational efficiency and control.
“Consule Solutions has been an integral part of helping us transition to NetSuite,” Controller Beau Eshleman said. “It has been great working with them, and they delivered on key issues in short timelines to help ensure our systems were working efficiently for our business.”
Customer: Burnett Medical Center
Healthcare Spotlight Award Winner: Bring IT
Burnett Medical Center is a nonprofit healthcare institution in rural northwestern Wisconsin. It has 17 inpatient beds, a 50-bed long-term care center, emergency services, and a walk-in health clinic. With roots dating back to 1930, Burnett is a small hospital that faced challenges similar to those of larger healthcare organizations.
Burnett Medical Center’s QuickBooks accounting application and Healthland Centriq electronic health records (EHR) system were not connected, resulting in manual data entry and posing challenges for providers to access key information. Financial staff wrestled with more manual work across AP, AR, and multisubsidiary consolidations, and spreadsheet-based reporting didn’t deliver timely or comprehensive insights. The healthcare organization opted for NetSuite and selected Bring IT (opens in new tab) for the implementation.
Productivity and visibility soared as Bring IT built a native connector between NetSuite and Epic Systems EHR that included the reports, dashboards, and approval processes the rural hospital needed. Leaders now have vast, configurable reports at their fingertips that are based on real-time information so they can make decisions rooted in data.
“There are enough complexities in healthcare as it is, and we didn’t want our financial system to be another one,” said Rhonda Peterson, Burnett Medical Center’s accounting manager. “We definitely appreciate the great work that Bring IT did in making our processes easier.”
