This year’s Oracle OpenWorld featured the first ever co-located SuiteConnect event, which included a session demonstrating the success NetSuite customers have had with the Professional Services Automation solution, OpenAir.
In front of a near-full room we reviewed the footprint of a PSA solution, including its capabilities around Resource Management, Project Accounting, Time and Expense management, Project Management, Business Intelligence and Dashboarding. The session was anchored by a customer panel with Amy Nakisher of Axiom Global and David Turchin of Mulesoft. The duo provided first-hand accounts of their customer journeys which both began three years ago.
"OpenAir is an essential part of our services delivery organization. It's critical for our reporting to upper management which is in turn delivered to Wall Street," Turchin shared with the audience. "OpenAir lets us take a data-driven approach to decision making which enables us to be more strategic.”
"For us, it’s all about billing,” Nakisher added. “We have a unique model working with clients, and there’s no other solution that can handle our different types of billing rules."
The session continued with a hands-on product overview of OpenAir with expert, Marlon Arevian. The demonstration consisted of scenarios that simulated the 'day-in-the-life' of different roles representing three groups:
1. Financial managers
2. Project and resource teams
3. Executive sponsors
Marlon highlighted the ease that a financial manager can review and approve charges and generate invoices with the click of a single green button. Marlon noted how easily a consultant can update a timesheet in seconds either through the web app or mobile app available on both Apple and Android platforms. The demonstration ended with a view of different reports and dashboards that enable business leaders to get critical operational metrics quickly and easily.
Jack Bryant, Industry Marketing lead for the Services industry summarized that, "this was one of the highest attended sessions we hosted at SuiteConnect and proves how services organizations of all sizes value their PSA environment. It was particularly interesting to hear a series of questions from attendees to David about the flow of data between OpenAir and NetSuite financials. David commented on the relief his finance counterparts feel that his project billing data syncs seamlessly with their books in real time.”
