The San Francisco SPCA, a NetSuite customer, is a nonprofit dedicated to saving and protecting animals, providing care and treatment, advocating for animal welfare, and enhancing the human-animal bond. As the 4th oldest humane society in the United States, the SFSPCA has been a key catalyst in giving San Francisco the lowest euthanasia rate of any major city in the country. Beyond preventing animal cruelty, the organization also has the two largest veterinary hospitals in the city, both with adoption centers that adopted out over 5,500 animals last year alone.
As a NetSuite customer for six years, we were proud to have SFSPCA represented at SuiteConnect in a variety of capacities.
First – Lynne Tromble, Controller, joined Evan Goldberg, on stage for the keynote Wednesday morning (opens in new tab). Lynne described how the organization has doubled in size since going live on NetSuite – going from 170 employees, to over 400 today. Beyond headcount, the nonprofit has gone from supporting one location to three in the city, and has added several new programs with the final goal of ending animal abandonment in San Francisco by 2020.
As a now $40 million dollar nonprofit with over 2,000 volunteers, Lynne described both the challenges and immense opportunities inherent in that growth. While the San Francisco SPCA was originally using NetSuite purely for financials, it has since adopted warehouse management and is considering CRM functionality to integrate with, and compliment, the core accounting system to foster further innovation. Lynne’s words put it best - “Without NetSuite, it would’ve been impossible to scale with our growth.”
The SFSPCA also had a station set up in the main hall at SuiteConnect where attendees could come play and cuddle with their dogs. Golden Retrievers, Dachshunds, Pit Bulls – you name it, we had around 20 dogs cycle in for visits throughout the day. The sectioned off area came complete with fire hydrants, chew toys for tug-of-war, and of course plenty of dog treats. There was also a station where attendees could browse through the SPCA’s available animals for adoption to find their NEXT best friend. The play pen was an attendee favorite – and we’re sure that there will be a few more animals with homes thanks to the event!
