NetSuite Social Impact held the first ever Buildathon 4Good in London in November. The all-day event brought together 23 NetSuite employees and five UK Social Impact organizations, where teams scoped out solutions, developed specifications and built at least one business automation in NetSuite for each organization. At the end of the day, nonprofits presented their solutions in a nonprofit showcase highlighting the specified challenges, solutions and benefits to the organization.

“One of the benefits of the solution is time saved. We will save half a day every month across three areas of finance," said Callum Mitchell, Systems Accountant at UCAS, which was able to streamline its payment process across multiple bank accounts and keep stakeholders informed.

TEC Services Association, Compassion in World Farming, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, UCAS and Leaders Quest Limited participated in this all-day Buildathon.

The Buildathon benefits both Social Impact customers and NetSuite employees.

“You understand more capabilities NetSuite can bring to the customer and the value of it,” said Iina-Miisa Huovinen, a Business Development Representative at NetSuite. “This helps with prospecting customers and interacting with them. We are trained to easily notice pain points of customers."

Employees from four departments and three European cities participated, including software engineers from Barcelona and Brno. They noted the benefit of being able to meet our customers and learn more about how they use our core platform.

“The solutions built were exciting to see,” said Peggy Duvette, Sr. Director, Oracle NetSuite Social Impact. “Every organization I spoke with got something really great out of it, not just the solution, but also the advice and expertise of a team dedicated to thinking about how they could use NetSuite to the best of their abilities.”

Within the past year, NetSuite Social Impact has held six Buildathon 4Good events, with 137 employees and 32 organizations participating.
