Gunnison Company

Construction Spotlight Award Winner: Appficiency

Gunnison is a fast-growing provider of sustainable tree and vegetation management services for commercial, governmental, and residential customers in Georgia, Arkansas, Virginia, New York, and Connecticut. At just 17 years old, Matt Cathell started Gunnison Tree Specialists in 1999 and eventually sold it to private equity firm Warren Equity Partners 21 years later. Gunnison has since acquired seven other companies and rebranded as Gunnison Company with a presence across the Southern US and East Coast.

These acquisitions left Gunnison with 11 accounting systems that left employees working in a fragmented landscape. Financial reporting and consolidation in spreadsheets dragged out the monthly close to three weeks, frustrating the finance team and undermining timely, informed decision-making. Recognizing an urgent need for a robust and centralized ERP that could support additional acquisitions, Gunnison turned to NetSuite, with implementation by Appficiency (opens in new tab).

By centralizing the organization on NetSuite, Gunnison has reduced its monthly close time to just six business days. Moving from spreadsheets to standardized financial and operational processes has improved productivity, consistency, and controls while reducing the risk of errors that come with spreadsheets. Real-time financial reporting and analytics allow for faster, more informed decision-making and strategic planning, while Appficiency customizations enhanced billing and project reporting. Going forward, Gunnison is equipped to scale by seamlessly integrating acquired businesses and expanding operations with new locations and services.

“The implementation was very smooth,” CIO Marc Picardo said. “The system has allowed us to be more agile and make informed decisions quicker than ever before.”

League of Southeastern Credit Unions

Financial Services Spotlight Award Winner: NetDynamic Consulting

The League formerly known as The League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LCU) is the regional association serving the needs of 400 credit unions with over $189 billion in assets and 12.4 million members in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and now Virginia. Founded in 2009, LCU provides advocacy, compliance services, education and training, cooperative initiatives, and communications programs with the goal of helping credit unions grow and succeed.

LCU migrated to NetSuite from Sage. GBD, a division of LCU, struggled with manual and error-prone processes particularly in creating sales orders and payment requests, which led to duplicate entries and inconsistencies. A lack of centralized project management tools resulted in inefficiencies and miscommunication in tracking project budgets, project status, time, and expenses. Seeking to reduce time-intensive manual work and enhance visibility, LCU engaged NetDynamic Consulting (opens in new tab) to implement NetSuite.

In just three months, NetDynamic Consulting successfully implemented NetSuite alongside its proprietary GBD automation scripts and system enhancements, significantly optimizing LCU’s operations. These innovations streamline project management, sales order processing, payment tracking, and time management, enhancing workflor efficiency, financial visibility, and project cost tracking. As a result, improved sales order and payment request processes have reduced errors and manual work, while project management has benefitted from centralized, real-time tracking of budget, tasks, time, and expenses.

Custom reporting and analytics are providing better visibility into operations, NetDynamic Consulting’s enhancements are designed with AI scalability in mind. While LCU is leveraging NetSuite’s embedded AI features – such as Intelligent Item Recommendations for upsell and cross-sell insights and AI-driven cash flow forecasting. LCU is also evaluating future AI applications, including predictive analytics for project management and automated, AI-driven forecasting and financial planning.

NetSuite’s cloud-based platform has given LCU the scalability to grow without additional IT burdens and the flexibility to adapt the system to its evolving needs.

TalentBridge

Staffing Spotlight Award Winner: Vursor

TalentBridge has grown since its launch in 1985 to become a leading staffing and placement agency that’s placed 1 million candidates and served more than 10,000 clients. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with about a dozen offices around the US, TalentBridge provides direct hire, contract-to-hire, staff augmentation, and professional outplacement services for roles including IT, engineering, finance and accounting, and professional services.

Lack of integration between QuickBooks and an applicant tracking system (ATS) forced TalentBridge tomanually extract ATS pay rate and bill rate data in spreadsheets to calculate profitability by personnel placement projects. And with data residing in several disparate systems with no authoritative single source, finance and accounting staff faced additional manual work that dragged out the monthly close to 15 business days. As continued business growth would bring even more complexity, TalentBridge turned to NetSuite to automate what had been heavy manual workloads. Vursor was selected to implement NetSuite and integrate it with the ATS.

With proprietary customizations by Vursor, TalentBridge now has real-time visibility into personnel placement profitability to help tailor pricing and make more informed decisions. Monthly close time is down 50% with NetSuite’s. Automation for invoicing, accounts receivable, collections, reporting, and financial consolidations has freed staff to focus on value-adding tasks instead of manually wrangling data in Excel. In addition, NetSuite allows TalentBridge to easily break down revenue streams to identify areas for improvement. The gains in efficiency and visibility realized with NetSuite equip TalentBridge to focus on its goals for growth, with acquisitions and international expansion on the roadmap.

Orangetheory Fitness

Franchises Spotlight Award Winner: Bring IT

Orangetheory Fitness is a fast-growing fitness studio whose franchisees operate more than 1,500 studios in all 50 US states and 24 countries. Founded in 2010, Orangetheory is now part of a larger franchising company created through its 2024 merger with Self Esteem Brands that has at total of 7,000 locations in 50 countries and $3.5 billion in annual revenue. Both Orangetheory and Self Esteem have been backed by private equity firm Roark Capital for roughly a decade.

Orangetheory previously used Microsoft Dynamics GP for financials and Salesforce for procurement and supply chain management. Billing and collections required extensive manual data work, while disconnected systems hurt productivity and visibility across multiple business units. The business wanted a centralized ERP that could readily integrate with Salesforce and help strengthen and scale its global operations. After evaluating NetSuite and Workday, Orangetheory elected to improve its business management fitness with an upgrade to NetSuite, implemented by Bring IT.

NetSuite has empowered Orangetheory to optimize operations, improve financial oversight, reduce monthly close time, and support its rapid growth. Automated billing and collections have improved efficiency and cash flow, while NetSuite AI capabilities within NetSuite Planning and Budgeting have enhanced forecast accuracy and decision-making. Real-time dashboards let stakeholders across the business easily monitor key metrics, and integrating NetSuite with purchasing, HR, expense management, and banking systems has simplified workflows. Bring IT customizations help to calculate variable royalties and fees and added new flexibility for sales rep commissions. A NetSuite SuiteCommerce-based online portal gives franchisees new transparency into their transactions and interactions with Orangetheory’s corporate office.

“Bring IT helped Orangetheory navigate the implementation of NetSuite, providing solutions for both our internal business support as well as our franchise support, leveraging NetSuite and Suite Commerce. We now have a scalable business solution to leverage as we grow,” said Peter Dvoran, VP of Global Technology.

Cadent

Advertising Spotlight Award Winner: Appficiency

Cadent connects the TV advertising ecosystem, helping advertisers and publishers identify and understand audiences, activate campaigns, and measure results across any TV content or device. Founded in 2005, the New York City-based company has deployed addressable advertising services across more than 75 million devices in the US, Canada, UK, and Ireland. Cadent is a portfolio company of private equity firm Novacap.

Running on Microsoft Dynamics GP, Cadent faced inefficiencies and complications in its accounting processes across a fragmented IT landscape. The Microsoft solution could provide only summary-level reporting, not the detailed breakdowns that Cadent wanted. Staff spent significant time manually manipulating data instead of focusing on more value-adding tasks. Recognizing opportunities for improvement, Cadent shifted gears to NetSuite, implemented by Appficiency(opens in a new tab).

With NetSuite, Cadent can track, manage, and reconcile transactions previously handled in disparate source systems, dramatically reducing manual work. Appficiency customizations have simplified what were complex processes such as consolidated invoicing, payables and billing approvals, electronic bank payments, and order intake from media platforms. In next steps, Cadent will integrate additional media platforms to NetSuite ERP and expand automation in other functions.
