Like the rest of the retail industry, home goods retail is in the midst of a major transition. Today’s shopper expects an anytime, anywhere commerce experience. For brands to meet and exceed those customer expectations, they must move from siloed multichannel retailing to frictionless omnichannel commerce.

I caught up with HFN (opens in new tab) publisher and editorial director, Maureen Azzato, at the HFN Total Home Omnichannel Summit (opens in new tab) this month to talk about the big trends in the home furnishing industry including personalization and authenticity. Azzato revealed some stats from a recent HFN study that showed only 41 percent of retailers find omnichannel to be important to their businesses today. She believes home goods retailers aren’t embracing technology fast enough, and those that don’t adopt a unified commerce strategy will not survive in today’s digital world.
