There has been much prognostication about NetSuite’s industry leading 99.5% uptime guarantee. As detractors and observers will rightly comment: "that translates to nearly 44 hours of unplanned downtime per year. That is almost 2 full days of ‘allowable’ outage". Shocking, isn’t it?
One of the things that separates us however is that not only do we GUARANTEE a service level, we offer the ability for anyone to go and see our rolling 12 month uptime by publishing it at: https://status.netsuite.com/ (opens in new tab)
Well as always the truth is in how you present the numbers… and the following table shows the number of lost days and hours based on both the full calendar and working years based on our average uptime of 99.98% and our guaranteed uptime of 99.5%
Calendar | Hours | Working | Working Hours | ||
365 | 8760 | 250 | 2000 | ||
Average | 99.98% | 0.073 | 1.752 | 0.05 | 0.4 |
Guaranteed | 99.50% | 1.825 | 43.8 | 1.25 | 10 |
So as you can see, that "nearly 44 hours" is on average something in the region of 1.752 hours per calendar year. But that is based on the full calendar year – if you look at the effect on the working day the average is less than ½ hour: 24 minutes to be precise. What is 24 minutes between friends?
So looking at it in this light – those 24 minutes per year could be put to great use! You could:
- Go to www.suiteapp.com (opens in new tab) and review the latest add-ons and partners offerings that might make your life easier
- Checkout what’s making the News
- Browse our upcoming events or register for the next SuiteWorld
- Peruse products from some of our cool customers like Speck (opens in new tab), GoPro (opens in new tab) or Jawbone (opens in new tab)
And you can do all this safe in the knowledge that by the time you’re finished doing any one of these that NetSuite will be there waiting for you when you’re done.
24 Minutes. Wow. I might even have time to grab a coffee…
