As technology continues to advance and propel and change almost everything we do, everything we learn, every way we connect , it’s no surprise we’re all hyper inquisitive about what the future holds, especially when it comes to our jobs and the nature of work.

Those are topics of discussion Gary Bolles—chair for Singularity University and a co-founder of eParachute (his father wrote the famous business book What Color Is Your Parachute)—knows well. He compares this shift into a digital working economy to that of the agricultural and industrial shifts of decades prior, diving into the impact it will have not only on the workforce but on education and future generations. Essentially, Bolles says people need to part ways with the traditional idea of studying one topic and spending our lives along just one career path. Instead, we need to be lifelong learners.
