Talk about a disconnect. Online retail sales in Australia are expected to surge to $25 billion by 2015, up 39% from 2013, according to the research consultancy Frost & Sullivan. And yet just one-third of the 77,000 retailers in Australia accept orders online.
The implications are clear. Australian retailers that don’t get online, and fast, are sacrificing a huge opportunity to grow revenue among a new breed of shoppers who value and reward a consistent, relevant experience across all channels—online, in-store, mobile, call centre and social.
A similar disconnect exists in wholesale distribution, manufacturing and other B2B markets as business buyers increasingly expect the convenience of anytime, anywhere purchasing. In both B2C and B2B markets, the gap is widening between laggards and leading companies that are taking advantage of omnichannel cloud commerce solutions to drive revenue not just domestically, but across international borders.
