Work Order Management

NetSuite saves wholesale distributors who build products countless hours of work associated with data entry, organization, and fulfillment. You can manage your work orders, kitting and assemblies, inventory status, and order fulfillment right from one integrated application. You'll be able to convert leads to orders, orders to shipments, and shipments to revenue far more expeditiously.
NetSuite allows you to track production of assembly items needed for stock or to fill orders through work orders that track the quantities of assemblies that need to be built and the quantities of components needed to do so.
- NetSuite supports production work orders that track the assemblies that need to be built to increase stock. Work orders are generated when the back-ordered quantity of an assembly reaches its assigned build point, and a bill of materials (BOM) is generated to facilitate picking member items for the build. When this work order is completed, the regular stock level of the assembly is increased and the finished goods are committed to open sales orders.
- Special order work orders track assemblies to be built for a particular sale. When assembly items are sold and finished goods are not in stock but member items are, a work order is automatically added to the work order creation queue.

- You can more accurately determine the proper time and quantity to reorder components as demand for components is calculated based on work orders that auto-calculate reorder points and preferred stock levels for those items.
- You can use work orders to track the production of all the assembly items needed for stock or to fill orders. NetSuite work orders tie together a number of pre-existing features — assembly items and builds, sales orders, and advanced inventory management — to provide more integrated workflows and easier replenishment of component items.
- Because demand for the assemblies is calculated based on sales, a separate queue shows you when it is time to build more to stock.
You may create work orders to fill a specific sales order (similar to a special order purchase order), or a production work order that will be used to build to stock. Raw materials are committed to a work order as they become available; when the work order is ready to be built, it will show up in your queue to generate an assembly build.
- You will achieve unprecedented ability to dynamically manage your stock and replenishment for both assemblies and their components.
